What is it? Workplace massage is a short 10-15mn massage given to employees at the office. During the massage, the head, neck, shoulders, back, arms and hands are covered. Employees sit on a comfortable and specially designed massage chair massage fully clothed. No oils or lotion are used during the session.
Why? Is there a need? Employees deal with a load of stress on a daily basis in and outside the workplace. The effect of stress can lead to: - Poor concentration
- Anxiety, depression, irritability
- Headaches, backaches
- Eyestrain, neck pain
- Fatigue
Over the years, workplace massages have become common practice. There are many benefits of offering workplace messages including: - Lowers stress
- Increases employees morale
- Decreases overuse injuries such as tendonitis & carpal tunnel
- Significantly lessens job stress level
Not only employees but the company also benefits because: - Happy employees = productive employees
- Those who receive this extra credit are more likely to feel grateful and be more responsible
- It’s tax deductible!
How does it work? Usually, the massages take place in an empty office, conference room, break room or any chosen area, away from other employees to avoid distraction. There are many ways to keep massage day organized. For instance, employees interested in a massage could start a list prior to the selected day. Once we arrive, we will call employees for their sessions in the order which they signed up for. If requested, we can make a reminder call to all employees prior to massage day.
Paying for the service…A chair massage is an average of a dollar per minute per person. There are different ways to cover costs:
- The company pays and determines length of each message.
- Employees pay separately and determine the length of their individual massage.
- The company and employees share the bill.
Researches have confirmed how massage is advantageous to the beneficiary. Companies can also provide this opportunity as a small employee perk to encourage increased productivity or as a way or appreciated the work your employees do.
